In my previous article, I explained how to set up your Metamask wallet. In this article, I will explain how to export private keys from Metamask.
Introduction
Metamask wallet consists of a set of public addresses and private keys. Anyone can deposit cryptocurrency in a public address, but funds cannot be removed from an address without the corresponding private key.
What are Private Keys?
Private keys are usually represented as strings of alphanumeric characters that prove that the funds in a wallet are yours and it’s needed in every transaction you make. Each address (account) in your Metamask wallet has its private key (i.e private key for account A is different from the private key for account B).
A private key is similar to a password. In cryptocurrency, private keys are also used to sign transactions and prove ownership of a blockchain address.
It is important to prevent your private keys from being lost or compromised. Never share your private key with anyone, if you do your account can be hacked. A private key holder can make transactions on an account and move assets (or funds) from one wallet to another wallet.
